Adolescent Weight Management Program (Ages 14–17)
At Houston Weight Loss Center, we understand that obesity during adolescence is more than just a number on the scale. It’s a serious medical condition that can affect long-term health, confidence, and quality of life. Our Medical Weight Loss Program for Adolescents is designed specifically for patients ages 14 to 17, offering compassionate, evidence-based care that helps young people achieve a healthy weight safely and sustainably.

A Compassionate, Science-Based Approach
Our program follows the latest Obesity Medicine Association clinical guidelines for pediatric obesity management. Under these guidelines, we use a combination of medical evaluation, nutrition guidance, behavioral support, and, when appropriate, prescription medications to help adolescents reach and maintain a healthy weight.
We recognize that every child’s situation is unique. That’s why our program focuses on personalized, age-appropriate care rather than one-size-fits-all plans.
What Makes Our Adolescent Program Different
- Comprehensive Medical Evaluation: Every patient undergoes a detailed medical and lifestyle assessment to identify underlying factors contributing to weight gain, including hormonal, metabolic, emotional, and environmental influences.
- Family Involvement: Parental and family support are vital for long-term success. We actively involve families in education, meal planning, and goal setting to create a healthy home environment.
- Nutrition & Behavior Coaching: Our team provides practical nutrition counseling tailored to the adolescent lifestyle, helping teens make better choices at home, school, and social events without restrictive or extreme dieting.
- Safe, Monitored Medical Treatments: When indicated, our clinicians may prescribe a GLP-1 (Semaglutide) or other medications, ensuring safety through regular monitoring and education about potential side effects.
- Focus on Long-Term Health: Beyond weight loss, we aim to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and other obesity-related conditions while helping each patient develop lifelong healthy habits.
Building Confidence and Healthy Habits
For many teens, weight struggles are tied to low self-esteem, social pressure, and emotional eating. Our providers take a supportive, nonjudgmental approach that empowers adolescents to build confidence, resilience, and a positive relationship with food and their bodies.
We work closely with both patients and parents to set realistic goals, track progress, and celebrate achievements, no matter how small.
