Because it is taken by mouth, orforglipron offers an option for patients who prefer not to use a weekly injection.
How does Orforglipron Work?
Orforglipron works with your body’s own GLP-1 hormone signaling. It supports weight loss in several ways: helping regulate blood sugar, reducing cravings and hunger, and improving satiety by slowing digestion. Unlike dual-agonist medications such as tirzepatide, which also act on the GIP pathway, orforglipron targets the GLP-1 pathway alone. Who is Orforglipron for?

Orforglipron is not right for everyone. It should not be used by people who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, and it is not intended for those under 18 years of age. As with other GLP-1 medications, it should be avoided by anyone who, or whose family, has had medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), and used with caution in those with a history of pancreatitis. What are the Side Effects of Orforglipron?
The most commonly reported side effects are gastrointestinal and tend to be mild-to-moderate, most often occurring during a dosage increase. Common side effects include:

Cash-pay pricing for orforglipron starts at $149 per month. Orforglipron may also be covered under your prescription drug insurance, and qualifying individuals with Medicare Part D pay $50 per month through the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program. If you have prescription drug coverage, we handle the prior authorization for you at no charge. Office visits and lab work are billed separately.
